If you are struggling with overwhelm, shutdown, anxiety or feeling stuck in survival mode, I want you to know that you are not alone

You might be someone who looks like they’re coping on the outside.

You get on with things, keep going, take care of other people and push yourself through difficult days. People may even describe you as strong, capable or resilient.

But internally, things can feel very different.

  • Feel emotionally overwhelmed and don’t fully understand why

  • Become easily triggered by situations, people or emotions

  • Swing between anxiety, overthinking and emotional shutdown

  • Struggle with self-criticism and feeling “not good enough”

  • Feel disconnected from yourself, your body or your emotions

  • Find it difficult to calm your mind or nervous system

  • Know you need support, but feel unsure where to even begin

And when you’ve spent years surviving, it can feel exhausting trying to hold everything together.

I’ve worked with many clients who have felt exactly the same.

In fact, as a Trauma Therapist with year of experience here's what I want you to know...

Your responses make sense in the context of what you have been through.

Trauma is not always about one big event. Sometimes it is about what happened repeatedly. Sometimes it is about what did not happen at all, such as emotional safety, emotional support, or feeling consistently seen and understood.

Many people minimise their experiences because they compare themselves to others or believe they should “just get over it.” But

trauma responses are not signs of weakness. They are protective adaptations developed by the nervous system to help you survive.

That is exactly why I created Trauma Toolbox Essentials.

I wanted to create something gentle, practical and accessible for people who feel overwhelmed by therapy jargon, complicated explanations or pressure to “heal perfectly.”

This digital guide is designed to be the first step toward helping you understand your nervous system, recognise trauma responses with compassion, and build a personalised set of grounding and regulation tools that you can return to whenever you need them.

So, if any of this is sounding familiar, Trauma Toolbox Essentials was created for you.

When you learn to understand and regulate your nervous system you will be able to...

  • Feel calmer and more grounded during moments of overwhelm

  • Understand why your mind and body respond the way they do

  • Recognise triggers and early warning signs sooner

  • Build practical coping tools you can use in everyday life

  • Develop a kinder and more compassionate relationship with yourself

"I now have an essential toolbox to help me work through any difficulties I may be facing. I believe I deserve to heal after years of carrying heavy weights around."

In case we have not met

I’m Shelley Bradley-Scholey, an accredited therapist, supervisor, trainer and trauma specialist.

Over the years, I’ve supported hundreds of people who look “fine” on the outside but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally stuck or disconnected from themselves.

My work is grounded in trauma-informed approaches including CBT, EMDR, nervous system regulation and compassion-focused approaches, but above all else, I believe therapy and healing resources should feel human, accessible and compassionate.

I know how overwhelming trauma work can sometimes feel, particularly when people are already exhausted from trying to cope. That is why I create resources that simplify complex trauma concepts into gentle, practical tools people can actually use in real life.

Trauma Toolbox Essentials was created to help you feel more supported, informed and empowered, one small step at a time.

Inside the digital guide, I’ll guide you through how to better understand your emotions, your nervous system and the tools that can help you feel more regulated… and here’s how:

Part 1: Understanding Trauma and Regulation

You’ll learn how trauma impacts the brain and nervous system, understand the Window of Tolerance, and begin recognising why overwhelm, shutdown and anxiety happen in the first place.

Part 2: Recognising Triggers and Trauma Responses

You’ll explore triggers, flashbacks, dissociation and trauma responses in a compassionate and accessible way, while learning practical strategies to feel safer and more grounded.

Part 3: The Trauma Toolbox

You’ll build a collection of practical tools including:

• Soothing Rhythm Breathing

• 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding

• Progressive Muscle Relaxation

• Guided Imagery

• Grounding Boxes

• Sensory Soothers

• Stimulus Discrimination

• Body Orientation

• Mindful Engagement

• Emotion Thermometer

• Distraction Techniques

• Daily Routine Planning

• Flashcards for Grounding and Coping

Part 4: Building Your Personal Trauma Toolbox

You’ll identify your triggers, early warning signs and go-to regulation strategies so you can create a personalised plan that works for you.

"Life is never perfect, but I have the skills now to manage and that is down to you."
